LOST LAKE, COLORADO
Several years ago our friends the Oaks introduced us to a fun thing called GEOCACHING. Basically it is a techi version of treasure hunting. All over the world people have hidden caches (treasures) You input the coordinates into a GPS unit. The GPS unit guides you to your destination just like a treasure map. It is a lot of fun.
So, last night for our FHE activity we did our first cache hunt of the year. After hiking about a quarter mile down an embankment the kids found it. It was hid in an ammo can. The kids got to leave a brass Boeing bookmark and then they got to choose a blue rubber frog from the treasure chest. We just had to make sure we left the ticks and the poison ivy there. The items aren't usually a big deal but it is a lot of fun to work together as a family to find something. It is also fun to see new places you might not typically notice.
We actually have our own cache hidden up on the Mesa in Colorado. It is called Lost Lake, and it is a 5 mile hike back to the most secluded, beautiful crystal clear lake you have ever seen.
So, for some great together time and family fun, you should try geocaching. It's a blast and it's free once you have your GPS.

Geo caching is tons of fun! We found one once on accident and got a deck of playing cards. I can't remember what we left. Oh well. It sounds like you had fun. We ought to do that for a F.H.E. night sometime.
That sounds like so much fun! I guess we should get a GPS unit!!
